Erik Vroons (b. 1976, The Netherlands) is a freelance writer, editor and curator in the realm of creative and journalistic photography. For many years, he’s been active as Editor in Chief/Editor-at-large for GUP Magazine and he was also involved with its associated talent platforms, New Dutch and Fresh Eyes.
Ongoing, he collaborates with OVER Journal as co-editor and guides various individual photographers from all over the world in the process of their practice, operating as a ‘jack of all trades’, with specializations in editorial proceedings and essays/reviews/grant writing. Organizations/institutions regarding screening- and jury processes include: World Press Photo, Lensculture, Canon, Rotterdam Photo Festival a.o.
He is an experienced portfolio reviewer, mainly interested in seeing creative approaches to issues of social and private concern, innovative visual storytelling and photography that can offer exciting new perspectives on the world. But I’m also welcoming pitches of artists delivering high end fine art imagery, street poetry, portraiture etcetera.
