AMIN YOUSEFI

Assistant Curator
Photoworks (United Kingdom)

Amin Yousefi is an Iranian, London-based writer, curator, and image-based artist. A native of Abadan in Khuzestan, Iran’s oil-rich province and the site of a long and violent war with neighbouring Iraq, Yousefi’s work examines the event of photography through its social and political dimensions and explores how the medium can challenge conventional understandings of archives. His practice focuses on the implications of archival processes and the possibility of reversing imperial violence in photography in Southwest Asia. Yousefi is currently the Assistant Curator and Editor of Photography+ for Photoworks.

In 2024, Yousefi received the Royal Photographic Society Award for Achievement in the Art of Photography in recognition of a notable personal contribution to the field. He was also selected as a 2024 Foam Talent winner and later exhibited at the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation in Frankfurt in 2025. His work has appeared in several international exhibitions and festivals, including the Fotografisk Centre, Belfast Photo Festival, Athens Photo Festival, Kranj Photo Festival, the Circulation(s) at Centquatre Paris, and the Back to the Future exhibition at Peckham 24.
