Artist Bio:
Charles Ford, born in Houston, Texas, earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the University of Texas at Austin. In his third year he photographed a student medical group in Bolivia, a project that led to his acceptance at ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena, California, where he completed a BFA.
In 1980 Ford moved to Dallas, Texas, focusing on fashion and portrait photography. A year later he taught photography at the University of Texas at Austin before relocating to New York, where he worked for magazines such as Vogue and Rolling Stone and pursued street photography using a Leica camera.
After more than a decade in New York, Ford returned to Texas in 1992 and continued his photographic career. In 2023 he revisited contact sheets from the 1980s and 1990s, uncovering forgotten street images that he now shares via his website, Instagram and exhibitions. All his work, from early street images to recent projects, has been created exclusively on film.
