Photoshop Basics

This technical course is designed for beginners to Photoshop and for those wishing to refresh previous knowledge.

Participants will be introduced to the Photoshop interface and guided through the programme’s core tools and functions. The course covers essential techniques for working with layers and for adjusting, correcting and enhancing photographs.

What You Will Need
No prior experience is required. iMac computers with Photoshop, along with images to use during the course, will be provided.

What You Will Learn

  • A basic overview of the Photoshop display, interface and controls

  • How to use and work with layers

  • How to use exposure adjustments such as levels and curves

  • How to use colour adjustments such as saturation and colour balance

  • How to use the dodge and burn tool effectively

  • How to use tools such as the clone stamp and spot healing brush

  • How to size and save photographs for both print and web use
